Abstract

The Primary objective of this project is to gain knowledge on designing and analysing a building. Our project involves designing and analysing a G+5 RCC framed residential building using Staad Pro. An AutoCad plan was taken from a real time ongoing construction site and design was done based on that plan using Staad Pro. Structural components like beams, columns and slabs are designed using Staad Pro software. All the structural members are designed using limit state method in accordance with the IS 456:2000 code and design aids.
Seismic, Dead and Live loads are considered as the loads acting on the building. Seismic loads are taken as per IS1893:2002, Dead and Live loads are calculated as per IS 875 Part-1 and Part-2 respectively, then applied on the structure. The structure is then analysed using Staad Pro, giving the critical points of maximum and minimum deflection and other values of shear forces and Bending moments as output. Design of the structure was done based on these values and reinforcement details of structural components are found at the end.
Key Words: Residential building, Staad Pro, AutoCad, IS 456:2000, IS 875, Seismic load, Dead load, Live load, Deflection, Shear Force, Bending Moment, Reinforcement.
