Abstract

In a closed loop control, operating point oscillations occur, the PI controller's performance is unsatisfactory as a result of tuning issues. In this paper, the concept of indirect vector control for an asynchronous motor drive is introduced using a type 2 neuro-fuzzy control method (T2NFC). A comparative performance with PI, type-l TINFC and T2NFC is done under various operating conditions of the asynchronous motor drive. It is investigated how well the induction motor performs in terms of its current, torque, flux variation, and speed. The simulated performance shows that T2NFC based Indirect vector-controlled drive gives better performance, less torque ripple and lesser spikes in the current as compared to TINFC and PI based control.
